The Jobs Gateway in South Eastern Europe

The SEE Jobs Gateway Database is is a joint project between the World Bank and the Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies (wiiw). It provides a detailed and harmonized set of labor market indicators for the following six Western Balkan and four EU comparator countries:

Western Balkan
  • Albania
  • Bosnia and Herzegovina
  • Kosovo
  • Montenegro
  • North Macedonia
  • Serbia
EU comparator countries
  • Austria
  • Bulgaria
  • Croatia
  • Hungary

The data are based upon national Labour Force Surveys starting from 2010 and are available on a quarterly and annual basis. The SEE Jobs Gateway database covers four parts: (i) Key economic indicators, (ii) Labor market indicators, (iii) Labor market data on a sub-national level and (iv) Data on earnings and unit labor costs.

On the basis of this database, annual flagship reports - Western Balkans Labor Market Trends - are published and presented in spring of each year at the Vienna Conference. The first report was released in April 2017, the second in March 2018 and the third report was launched in Belgrade in March 2019.

The SEE Jobs Gateway was funded by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Finance.
